Atlanta is trying to build a massive militarized police training facility.

Labor says NO!

We, the undersigned members of the labor movement, write to express solidarity with the brave organizers pushing back against the Atlanta #CopCity Project.

Core to the principle of the labor movement is the commitment to a fair and just society where people are empowered to live their fullest lives.

#CopCity is a military grade training facility Atlanta public officials and Atlanta Police Foundation want to build on Muscogee Creek territory by clearcutting the Weelaunee Forest. The facility would serve as training grounds for police across the country and around the world in "urban warfare" to suppress movements of working people fighting for safer, more sustainable communities. The construction of #CopCity is clearly in direct opposition to the needs of working people.

Authorities are seeking to crush opposition to #CopCity using tactics the labor movement is all too familiar with - violent policing and prosecutions, and baseless accusations of financial crimes and threats of RICO charges.

We demand that all political prosecutions and draconian charges against protesters and bail fund organizers be dropped immediately. We urge the Mayor and City of Atlanta to listen to community members and heed the demands of labor organizations such as the Home Depot Workers Unite and IUPAT rather than being ruled by the Atlanta Police Foundation.

#STOPCOPCITY!
